AeroVironment led the primes higher on a data-platform tie-up while Lattice bore the drone basket's share of a market-wide semiconductor selloff.

Monday split the drone stack cleanly along the airframe-versus-silicon seam. AeroVironment (AVAV) led the basket, up 4.6% to $153.40, extending its post-earnings recovery after Nominal announced a collaboration to supply the test-and-operations data platform AeroVironment will use to unify engineering-test capture and manufacturing traceability across its uncrewed and counter-UAS lines. The move sits on the airframes-primes and NDAA-compliant-supply chokepoints: AVAV is the incumbent Blue UAS prime whose Puma family has anchored the cleared list since inception, and the June quarter's record $480.5M revenue, first international LOCUST order above $50M, and $1.5B backlog gave the recovery something to price. On a session that punished AI-linked silicon, the prime with a hardware order book was the place to hide.

The laggard came from the compute rung. Lattice Semiconductor (LSCC) fell 11.1% to $106.50, with no company-specific news — it was swept in a market-wide semiconductor selloff (the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 5.9%) touched off by weekend calls from prominent AI figures, including Anthropic's Dario Amodei, to slow frontier-model training and tighten safety. Lattice owns the autonomy-compute chokepoint at the low-power edge, where its iCE40 and CrossLink FPGAs handle deterministic sensor-bridging inside a drone's milliwatt budget, so on a day the market repriced the whole AI-silicon complex it took the basket's hardest hit. Ambarella (AMBA), the edge-AI vision-SoC name on the same chokepoint, fell 5.7%.

The breadth confirmed the rotation into primes and away from enablers. The defense integrators held green — CACI +2.6%, Kratos (KTOS) +1.9%, BAE (BAESY) +1.7%, Motorola Solutions (MSI) +1.7%, L3Harris (LHX) +1.4% — while the power-and-perception layer sold with the tape: NVIDIA −3.4%, Enovix (ENVX) −2.6% and Amprius (AMPX) −2.9% on the batteries chokepoint. Red Cat (RCAT) slipped 2.0% and Ondas (ONDS) was flat, leaving the small-cap airframe names roughly steady while their silicon suppliers absorbed the selling.

The near catalysts are policy and procurement, not the chip tape. The FAA's Part 108 BVLOS final rule remains the overdue swing factor, expected before month-end after a long slip, and would widen the commercial-drone addressable market at a stroke. The USAF's CCA Increment 1 competitive production decision is targeted within FY2026, a direct read on the autonomous-collaborative-aircraft chokepoint. AUSA 2026 (Oct 12–14, Washington) is the next set-piece where prime backlogs and counter-UAS demand get restated in front of the whole procurement chain.
