The NDAA-motor and rare-earth-magnet chokepoints led a risk-on drone tape as Unusual Machines jumped 10% and NVIDIA's blowout print lifted the autonomy-compute layer.

Unusual Machines led the desk, up 10.1% to $26.30 — the most direct US-listed play on the drone-motor and NDAA-compliant-supply chokepoints, running its Orlando plant at roughly 15,000 brushless motors a month with capacity doubling this year. Thursday's move was momentum more than a single fresh headline: the stock has been re-rated since a Q2 print that put revenue at $16.72 million against a $9.19 million consensus, ThinkEquity's price-target lift to $35, and its selection as a finalist in the ~$1.1 billion Drone Dominance Phase 2 program, with the Upgrade Energy acquisition still slated to close this quarter. On a session the whole risk complex ripped behind NVIDIA, the highest-beta name mapped to the motor-and-magnet strait moved the most.

American Resources was the laggard, off 4.9% to $2.54, with no fresh company headline. AREC is a speculative, second-hand way into the rare-earth-magnet chokepoint — a ~17–19% minority stake in ReElement Technologies plus feedstock and shared-services ties, not the refiner itself — so it trades thin and gives back sharply on any rotation. The move looks like position-squaring in a micro-cap rather than anything structural in the magnet-refining thesis.

The broader tape was decisively green, led by the autonomy-compute layer: NVIDIA rose 8.7% to $227.98 on its blowout fiscal Q2 (see the compute and quantum desks), and its edge-AI silicon is the perception-class brain drone platforms are increasingly designed around. The rest of the basket followed — Ondas +6.4% to $8.75, Enovix +5.6% to $3.59 and Amprius +3.0% to $10.51 on the battery-energy-density choke, Lynas +5.1% to $11.75 on the rare-earth-oxide side, AeroVironment +3.7% to $152.28 and Red Cat +3.9% to $9.28 among the airframe primes. The lone soft spots were thin foreign lines: Draganfly's OTC quote (DRSHF) slipped 3.4% to $1.29.

The near catalysts are dense. Commercial UAV Expo runs September 1–3 in Las Vegas — the venue where the motor, autonomy and c-UAS roadmaps get their next public read. LightPath reports fiscal Q4 on September 10, and the FAA's Part 108 BVLOS final rule is still expected in the second half of the year, overdue against its earlier target; that rule is the regulatory chokepoint that gates the commercial scale case the whole basket is priced against.
