Drone names rebounded with a risk-on tape as the rare-earth magnet strait led, DroneShield's US line jumped 13.8% into Tuesday's half-year results, and CACI slid on no news.

Tuesday reversed Monday's selloff into a broad risk-on session — the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.7% as Treasury yields eased and chips recovered ahead of NVIDIA's Wednesday print — and the drone complex went with it. The desk's leader was DroneShield's thin US OTC ADR, DRSHF, up 13.8% to $1.49; the underlying ASX line rose a more modest ~7.4% (to A$1.95), with the OTC quote amplifying the move into the company's August 26 half-year report. The catalyst is the report itself: DroneShield has pre-announced first-half revenue up roughly 74%, about A$206 million of secured 2026 revenue, and recent European military orders (~A$23.2 million), alongside the launch of its RfAI-3 radio-frequency intelligence engine. That sits squarely in the counter-UAS chokepoint the thesis rests on — the RF-detection-and-defeat layer that gates airspace security.

The laggard was CACI, down 3.8% to $612.10, one of the few red lines on an up day and with no company-specific catalyst reported — no contract action, filing, or rating change surfaced behind the decline. The name maps to the defense-IT and mission-systems integration layer rather than any physical bottleneck, and Tuesday's move reads as position-trimming in a government-services name rather than a crack in the thesis; absent a catalyst, it is best treated as noise.

The session's real story was the magnet strait rebounding hardest. American Resources (ReElement) led at +8.4% to $2.72, Energy Fuels rose 7.3% to $15.97, USA Rare Earth 6.1% to $19.41, and MP Materials 4.8% to $60.17 — the rare-earth and separation layer that supplies the neodymium-iron-boron magnets under every drone motor. The FPV-and-reshoring names were mixed after their recent tariff-driven run: Red Cat firmed 1.9% to $9.10 while Unusual Machines eased 0.9% to $24.35. LightPath, the domestic EO/IR optics name, added 4.2% to $13.79, and autonomy-compute bellwether NVIDIA rose 2.2% to $213.05 into its own report. The tape rewarded the physical straits and left the services names behind.

The calendar is immediate. NVIDIA reports fiscal Q2 after Wednesday's close as the reference point for the autonomy-compute layer, and DroneShield's 1H CY2026 results land the same day. Ambarella — the edge-vision silicon name — has set its fiscal Q2 call for September 3, later than earlier placeholders suggested. Commercial UAV Expo runs in Las Vegas September 1–3, and LightPath's fiscal Q4 follows September 10. Structurally, the FAA's Part 108 BVLOS final rule remains overdue in the back half of 2026, the USAF's CCA Increment 1 production decision is targeted within FY2026, and the roughly one-year suspension of China's rare-earth export controls lapses later this year — the hard catalyst under the magnet strait that led Tuesday.
