Enovix rose 8.5% on an upgrade and next-gen battery samples as the energy-density choke firmed, while Unusual Machines gave back 7.5% after its run and the counter-UAS names cooled.

The datalink choke posted the raw top gain, but read it with care: Mobilicom rose +10.2% to $6.29, a thin datalink-and-cyber microcap that trades on low volume and moved on no confirmed catalyst — signal-light noise at the small-cap edge of the secure command-and-control layer. The meaningful move of the session was one choke over. Enovix jumped +8.5% to $3.40 after an analyst upgrade to Buy and word that it had shipped its first next-generation battery samples to mobile-phone customers, on the back of a Q2 that grew revenue 21% year-over-year with momentum in drones and defense. Energy density is the quiet chokepoint on flight time and payload for every small UAS, and Enovix is the highest-beta pure-play on it, so a qualification milestone reprices it fast.

The laggard was the FPV-components choke, cooling after a vertical run. Unusual Machines fell −7.5% to $28.30 with no adverse news — the stock is up more than 100% year-to-date and had blown past its Q2 print in early August, and management was on the road at the Sidoti conference August 19–20. This was profit-taking in a high-beta name, not a thesis crack: the NDAA-compliant components choke it maps — motors, goggles, flight controllers sourced outside China — is exactly the supply story that drove the run, and it is unchanged. Red Cat −3.1% to $9.89 and Ondas −1.8% to $8.90 gave back with it.

The rest of the basket split by choke. The counter-UAS and edge-silicon names sold: Elbit −5.5% to $752.30, LightPath −6.9% to $13.24, Lattice −5.3% to $117.68 (the FPGA layer inside autonomy stacks), NextNav −4.7% to $18.26, with primes Kratos −2.3% and RTX −2.3% easing. The critical-materials choke was the bright spot — Energy Fuels +5.4% to $14.85 leading the rare-earth-and-magnet names that gate motor and actuator supply — while the comms-and-command primes held green: Motorola Solutions +2.4% to $480.84, Qualcomm +1.1% to $161.91, CACI +1.0% to $662.68.

The calendar turns hard next week. The Pentagon's Drone Dominance "Gauntlet II" final competition and production down-select is set for around August 24 — the procurement catalyst the whole domestic-drone basket is positioned for — with NVIDIA's fiscal Q2 and DroneShield's 1H CY2026 report both August 26 and Ambarella's Q2, the vision-silicon read, on August 27. Commercial UAV Expo runs in Las Vegas September 1–3. The tell is whether Gauntlet II converts the components-and-datalink supply thesis into booked defense orders.
